Fibre Art

Into the 2000s, I became involved in the pop up gallery scene in Calgary (see “curatorial projects” section), which gave rise to experimentation with crocheting, a process I had not done much of since childhood when I made my own barbie clothes. The pop up scene was thriving and through the curated exhibitions, I found a sense of total artistic freedom with fibre art that was incredibly invigorating. I was mostly interested in crowns at first, but this lead to other hat-wear, then dressing up found objects and eventually to yarnbomb collaborations with friends.
